Somebody needs to tell that bum Beltran that it's time to retire.
crazy game.... St. Louis just didn't have it tonight.... already looking forward to Game #2
I thought by all the hype that St Louis had the edge but not now. Sox sweep. Go Sox. ....Fox sucks!
Let's go Sox!
I'm a Cards fan, and there's no way that 'out' at 2nd base should've stood. How in the world did that ump call that an out?? Wasn't even close.
Even the Cardinal radio guys immediately knew the call was wrong and said so.
It was nice to see the Umps get together and overturn that call and get it right. Back when I was a kid they would have just let the call stand, blown call or not
I don't understand why they are forcing replay on baseball at exactly the time the umps are starting to get the hang of getting together to make these calls right. Forget replay and encourage more of these meetings on questionable calls.
Oh, and go Sox! Did no one outside of Boston and Detroit notice how the Red Sox went up against Sanchez, Scherzer and Verlander and won 4 out of those 5 games against three legitimate aces?
The Red Sox will find a way to choke. They always do.
I think maybe you stopped paying attention to baseball 10 years ago.
--Yeah, Beltran's a bum (as he advances towards being the greatest post season HR hitter of all time)....
--We tried to turn Tim "Storyline on Every Pitch" McCarver off after the first inning, but ESPN radio wasn't much better, not to mention 5 second difference. Fox was almost as painful as the Cards performance.
--Nobody with a brain thought the guy should be out a second. The discussion should be about overturning a call where the umpire was not blocked and did not ask for help. Bad calls are part of baseball. Matheny should've called for an umpire huddle in the eighth on a close play at first to prove his point. Yeah, they eventually got it right, but is it now majority rules?
--Not so fast on the broom, Strat guy.
They beat up on Detroit's bullpen, not their "aces". Let's not forget that.
Seriously, I hope Beltran is able to play the remainder of the series...I'd hate to hear the boo-birds saying "if only" should the sox win it all.
Me too. Given that it is a rib injury, swinging a bat is probably painful. We really need him to be able to hit tonight as we are facing a righty and Carlos is a vastly superior hitter on the left hand side of the plate.
Not sure Kozma will be allowed back in STL (kidding.) He has been the runt of the litter all season. Funny how WS pressure really exposes a teams weaknesses.
Not saying they beat up on them, just that they beat them. And out of the 4 wins, they pinned one each on Scherzer, Sanchez and Verlander, with one coming against the bullpen.
Sox in 6
Good to see Beltran playing tonight
So much for the sweep eh?
All tied up and headed to St Louis where either Ortiz or Napoli must sit out
