how about yellow cards being sent off for 10 minutes?.... that will stop the cheap holding/jersey pulling by defenders who get beaten off the ball.

there's a lot of arms being used in a sport where your arms shouldn't be used....;)
The game is a LOT less physical than it used to be. Though you wouldn't think it from the screaming antics of the big girls (no disrespect intended to the ladies team) who pass as footballers these days.
In a 1989 World Cup game between England & Sweden, England defender, Terry Butcher, suffered a head wound early in the game. The team physio' stitched the wound, bandaged his head and he carried on playing, heading the ball at every opportunity. This is how he looked by the end of the game.

Apparently among pro athletes, leaving an untidy dressing room behind you is the height of disrespect and unprofessionalism. Team captains are supposed to take it upon themselves to pick up any remaining litter, clothing etc.
Apropos of sod all, my nephew was training in the same gym as conor macgregor last year and said he left the place filthy after himself.

I agree, Brazil players are impressive (not specially Neymar) but the team seem to lose composure when challenged. If or when they gain confidence, then… It’s the second team I make sure to watch.

Nobody’s talking about France, like the 2018 World Cup was won by chance. An awfull lot of the best players are missing due to injuries (Benzema, Pogba, N’Golo Kanté, Hernandez…), so the team is not as strong as it was, but yet seem to be doing well and will go to the next stage of the competition as easily as England and Spain.

France still have Giroud, Griezmann and Mbappé, those three players are officially in the top ten french best attack players (number of goals) all time. https://www.chroniquesbleues.fr/Tableau-general-des-buteurs They can do wonders together and with the team.

Kyllian Mbappé was age 19 when France won in 2018, now 23. He is so fast 💨, he is the reason why we can’t get rid of the monitoring. 😉

This nice short summary of France-Danemark shows the defensive weakness of the team but great attack skills:

After watching Brazil without Neymar today, I may want to change my last comment. They look good at every position. But they haven’t had a really big challenge yet

For no reason I internet-searched "Nobby Stiles" - apparently the nickname's from his 1st name, Norbert.

topic #2) What language does Gordon Strachan speak? Is that one of those stranded Celtic languages like Manx?
