Don't sweat the petty stuff and don't pet the sweaty stuff.- George Carlin

Avoid Chinese Restaurants with 'garden' in their name, hotels with 'arms' in their name and movies with a poster saying 'starring Julia Roberts' (part of a list my uncle keeps adding to)

You can't have everything. Where would you put it? -Steven Wright

    On a more serious note:

"Success is the result of making good decisions. Making good decisions is the result of experience. Experience is the result of making bad decisions. - some self help tape I listened to years ago. A long way to say 'learn from your mistakes'.

Life is never fair. On rare occasions, it's not fair in your favour. - my dad.

Unless you are the lead dog, the scenery doesn't change much. - Kinky Friedman

When someone asks you if you are a god, you say YES. - Winston Zedmore, "Ghostbusters". Often useful in a work environment.

I have my fears but they do not have me. - Peter Gabriel.

    I agree.

More of us should stop wishing that we win the lottery, but have our health.

    Same as my signature.

Practice guitar for hours each day. Do that for years on end and one day you will make it look so easy that people who have never done any of that will say that you were blessed with talent.

I bought a pair of Red Wing boots for about $325 or so 8 years ago. I still wear them to this day. They're comfortable as hell and they've been re-soled.

You don't choose the guitar, it chooses you.

If at any point in time you cannot afford a particular guitar, don't play it. If it chooses you, you have to buy it. If you simply can't beg, steal, or borrow, you will eventually die of a broken heart..

Each success contains the seeds of its failure.

The strong do what they will. The weak do what they must.

Stop moving and the buzzards will start circling.

There are variants to this, but my current favorite short and sweet take is:

Love everybody, and don't be a dick - Jeff Wall

I have mulled this one over, and battled in my own mind as to which part is more difficult, and have finally determined that *both* parts are more difficult.

Some of you might remember Jeff Wall wrote content for an early alt-country web zine, some twenty-plus years ago... he's still doing gigs occasionally around NC, and has his BigDumbHick website going. He's a funny dude, and was a Navy lifer. If you root around his Facebook page, you can find some of his Navy tales, which are hysterical, even to a civilian like me.

Another one I like, is from an old Gahan Wilson comic... the guy is laying on his deathbed, and his sorrow filled family is gathered around him. The caption says:

Maybe I shoulda spent less time worryin' about stuff, and more time doin' the mambo.

Them are some words to live by.
