Epic. Mostly because it NEVER is.
"AT THE END OF THE DAY"
Am I hogging this thread...................sorry!
When I was working in New York, a colleague who was a smart and very nice guy, frequently addressed large groups of IT workers. And when spoke he used the hedge phrase "if you will" so often that it drove me crazy. I guess it was just a crutch as he better organized his thoughts, but every time I hear it now I think of Long Island Mike!
Mike was a terrific guitarist with a nice collection including a Tele, a Strat, a 335, etc., so I could forgive him!
For all intensive purposes.
Don't ever tell me "I can't..."
Whenever someone at work says "you can't..." I reply with "what did you call me???"
Where I live (Lancaster Pa. )the name of the city needs to be pronounced "lang kis ter" The common and probably correct pronunciation is offensive to the locals
My current pet hate is the mis-use of 'Decimated' - a favourite of dramatic 'on-the-spot reporters' everywhere, to describe scenes of carnage. 'Decimated' means to reduce by a tenth - it goes back to Roman empire times. Look it up.
The entire English language since the end of the Elizabethan era.
The use of "you're welcome" as an insult
What used to be an expression of appreciation has now become a possible veiled insult
Now when somebody says "you're welcome", it has to be examined
Is it a friendly expression or is it a hostile insinuation that I have wronged them in some manner
Just sayin' ..............
If it's good enough for Hank Sr, it's good enough for you.
"For your FYI" and "ATM machine" both leave me shakin my SMH
For me there’s only ever been one:
“Jagwire” when referring to the cat or the marque. Makes. Me. Crazy.
YES YES YES!! I correct people on this and it annoys them.
when people talk about food as being healthy, rather than healthful. that organic free range chicken you're eating can't be very healthy because IT"S DEAD (hopefully)
I am just going to go full prostate on this and sit back and enjoy what others post. See what it entrails.
one phrase I cannot stand is "walk the walk and talk the talk" it was a catch phrase overused at my last job , grated on me the whole time, cringe worthy at best. well I guess you could say it was over-rated!
I could build better crap like that off the top of my head with out thinking about it
