Women are generally not amused by men acting like idiots.
First, my wife enjoys the 3 Stooges just fine. The bit where Curly encases himself in pipe trying to get the water to stop has her genuinely laughing out loud every single time. So not all women dislike the 3 Stooges, just as not all men *like* the 3 Stooges (as is also shown by this thread), broad generalizations can be a disservice, even in mundane areas of personal opinion.
Second, why did the OP ask this question and follow it up with a Shemp two-reeler? Any Stooges fan knows that the Curly era is where it’s at.
Curly taking the oath at 3:20 exemplifies the classic existential dilemma of adaptation to societal mores by the individual.
Drop the vernacular!
They were funny until the bald one was replaced
My ex thought they were funny 'til I hit her in the head with a shovel.
Trivia: There is a scene where all four "original" Stooges appear at the same time. After Curly Howard started experiencing health problems and was replaced by brother Shemp, he came back for this scene, though out of character (somewhat) and with hair.
Watch from 4:56 and you can see Curly's stunt double. Really.
I got my wife to shout "Hoot Mon" whenever she got excited (my favorite Stooges' episode). That was a mistake. Don't ask.
I find bits of theirs funny, but I loved them when I was a kid. Not so much now. I had some friends who used to visit Larry Fine when he was in an old folks home in Southern California. He seemed to appreciate their visits.
I guess I'm a woman, because I never found them funny at all.
Of course I was never really aware of them until I was adult.
So it's either that, or I'm a woman.
My three Pugs didn't like this clip at all lol.
Coming from the UK I'm not that familiar with the three stooges. Benny Hill used to be quite popular with the ladies and he usually seemed quite silly too.
Benny Hill hit the US when I was a kid... maybe very early 80s? I used to laugh so much at that man. I hear he was a good guy in real life too.
My wife loves them. She also loves Zappa, Rush, Tom Waits, the Residents and other music artists women supposedly don't like.
A poke in the eyes is not touchy feely!
It used to be a thing. Men I knew would categorize women into two groups; one group got the 3 stooges and laughed at them, the other group were not considered serious relationship material.
Why, I ought'a!
The ol'lady is addicted to LMN .... Sad
alot of women don't get Monty Python either it seems
