Truly sad news. My deepest condolences to Becky and his family. Godspeed, Bill.
Thanks Mr Lawrence for making this guitarists life better. RIP.
Condolences.....Great innovator for our craft....
Sad news, Bill was one of the nicest guys I've ever had the pleasure to meet.
My condolences go out to Becky and the rest of his friends and family.
I never had the honor of meeting Bill, but I have met Ron Kirn. If Ron had the respect for that he does, then I know he must have been a great guy.
Ugh, just stunned by this news. Thinking the best for Becky and family. This man epitomizes the many great people one meets as a player.
Just heard the news... oh man... my heart goes out to the Lawrence family at this difficult time.
Godspeed, Bill! Thanks so much for all the music you've made possible and thank you for all the music that is yet to come.
Rest in peace Bill, a true inspiration and a sad loss to the world of the electric guitar.
Sorry to see him gone. Condolences to his family.
I considered Bill Lawrence as my teacher and one of my closest friends. Bill was a man of absolutely uncompromising integrity and demanded the same of the company he kept. He would always tell me that truth only exists to the extent it can be demonstrated, and I always have to make myself responsible to it in everything I say or write since we must be able to hold others accountable when they do not. Bill grew up in Cologne, Germany under ****sm, seeing the horrors of both fascism and the allied bombings of the city. He became one of the great jazz guitarists in the postwar era, and after, the most respected and respectable man in the musical instrument industry. He was a musician, a scientist, an engineer, a designer, a thinker, and always a worker who resisted corporatism and respected the labor of others. For Bill, there was only the right way.
He was committed to education, and spent considerable time through the last years of his life trying to help me gain critical perspective into the sciences and the arts, sometimes politics, only with the hope that we can change the world from the one he knew. I've been devastated by losing Bill and his friendship. I don't know what to do without him, but as Bill would tell me, now it's time to work. We must all continue by Bill's example.
I cannot ad anything except to say that Bill Lawrence was a giant. He shall be missed. Thoughts and prayers to Becky and family.
Bill was one the those guys like Leo Fender or Paul Bigsby. They make guitars fun and interesting through their vision and design.
Condolences to family, friends and the TDPRI.
RIP Bill...I have Keystones in my Tele and Strat and can't imagine using any other pickups.
So sad.... RIP, Bill.
Death is an enemy, not a friend.
Thoughts and prayers here. RIP.
