The hats looks sorta cool but I'm definitely a knurly chrome enthusiast. The knurly knobs are the only ones I can hook my baby finger around to quickly adjust vol or tone on the fly. Those hat knobs are very hard to operate that way. I have to use my index and thumb together to turn those hats and I find that very inconvenient.

I put domes on all my electrics, for looks and function. To me, the kruling gives you a better surface to dail in changes with your pinky finger.

I kept the stock Fender domes on my Classic Series '50s Tele, and have another set of them on one Squier Standard Tele. (1st in the picture)

My favorites are the Fender flat top barrels. I have them on four Teles. (2nd in the picture)

I have one set of the Fender J5 Tele knobs, they are nice too. (3nd in the picture)

The 4th one in the picture I got from guitarpartsresource and I'm guessing is Gotoh, the 5th one is from a stock Squier Standard and probably Mighty Mite. Those two have a very polished and slick feel, while the three Fender knobs have a sharp edge to the knurl that makes them a nicer grip IMHO.

I have a set of the Fender BF/SF amp style knobs made for the Classic Series '72 Deluxe/Custom on my Squier Tele Custom. They look right there, and I suppose I'd keep them on a Muddy Waters Tele if I had one. But I like the simplicity of the set screw as an indicator for the volume and tone levels.

the hats just look out of place on a Tele to me. like Yegbert, i use the set screw as a visual referent and it's worked fine for me for many years.

I'd have to go along with the majority here - the chrome ones definitely look the best.

wellsir, after watching 3 hours of live Muddy Waters videos last night, I have to say the witch hats are most excellently cool . . .

but chrome domes all the way for me. I even put one on the volume knob of my '66 strat. Made it a lot easier to find.
