I'm new to wiring guitars, just purchased parts but pickups and control panel need to be put together.

Any advice on wiring up a 5 way switch?

Is your humbucker two, three, or four wire?

Easiest is treat the humbucker like a standard single coil neck pickup then follow the traditional diagram.
Use a push/pull tone pot and split the humbucker to a single coil.

Some like to install a fixed 470k resistor at the switch and a 500k volume pot so when switched to the bridge pickup the fixed resistor knocks down the volume pot effectiveness as a 250k for better single coil tone and use the straight 500k volume pot for the humbucker.

Measure your pots with a multi-meter and see where they sit on the tolerance spec (it's 20% wide) as they can alter your tone just like selecting 250k/500k will do, bright or dark output even when the knobs are 'dimed'.

That’s a pretty broad question. If you’re looking for wiring diagrams check out Seymour Duncan.

What are you trying to achieve by using a 5 way switch?

Interesting website, looking through it now, thanks. The only selector switch I have is a 5 way switch. Parts are expensive here in oz ($30 for a 3-way switch!) and I'm not buying new parts as I'm new to this so right now using what I got.

Two wires from both the humbucker and single coil bridge pickups. White wire and bare.

This is a good option.
