Do you miss humidity too?
I usually can ski (usually tele ski) the half mile to the mailbox most of January and February, although it is a steep uphill back to home. Just not this year ... yet.
I vote for you having the quickest wit on this forum.
Similar for my brother. 45 years ago after he and his wife graduated from college they took teaching jobs at the Chippewa reservation, north of Minot.
It was quite an awakening, especially how severe Winters can be.
I live in Ontario Canada, about 60 miles west of Buffalo and my lawn is still green. People were even golfing at the local muni on Friday
Kinda sorta... I miss the way the air is thick and fragrant at night, most noticeable when I first get off a plane from the Dry Regions.
But I get it: being able to sleep at night without air conditioning, even in the summer, is great... in that way I don't miss humidity))
the west south west in a period of long drought? does the rain usually come in cold front from north?
Old Farmers Almanac lied...
We've spent much more time than usual, at The Cabin (in NC but we see the TN line out the back windows). We've already been snowed in 6 calendar days (including the day before yesterday) since Hallowe'en.
I have dug out clothes I sort of forgot I even had. I've been putting out Black Sunflower Seed, for the birds, like I never have before. But I actually like it. I like this combination of Yankee cold and stronger, more Southern sunlight. Gimme a somewhat long day and better angle of the sun, and I'm fine.
The rain usually comes from the south and west.
I no longer see weather as unusual but we had a lot of snow in early mid Dec which was odd, then none for Christmas which is average, and still have no snow in mid Jan which is odd.
Three weeks into winter with no snow kind of sucks.
No zero temps is nice though.
As someone from Wisconsin who grew up in Minnesota, someone from California talking about winter is amusing . This has been a really mild winter for us but I still spent like half an hour DIGGING my car out with a snow shovel the other day lol.
In Wisconsin it was 30 degrees and I watched a guy wearing basketball shorts walk in there.
all of you, SHUT UP !!! the winter gods will be listening and plotting vengeance upon our mortal butts.
I'm so grateful for dry pavement and sidewalks now that I'm living downtown and walking everywhere. Hurt my back 4 weeks ago slipping on ice after a storm so I've had enough for one winter already. Every day that it doesn't snow is a gift I try to appreciate. It will come again, oh yes, it will come again.
Everybody is talking about the weather, but nobody's doing anything about it.
gonna be a long summer
Visited my place at Cocoa Beach last week and temps hit the 40’s at night and only one day in the 70’s. I sending a letter off to the COA demanding warmer temps between November and March.
Yeah i am in the middle of my late season deer and elk tags.It should not be warm and sunny. The only thing missing is no bugs to swat like in archery season.
Sounds like my property.Mountain living.
We've had a huge flock of robins foraging our yards for about a week...I'm unsure if they are the last robins of impending winter or the first robins of impending spring. ((I asked them, but they were so confused and panicked by the pop quiz that they flew off)).
Avatars of the plague year.
