Bought EH Soul Food just now. At least this will let me play while she is watching Life Time. So now I am a hypocrite. Except when she is shopping!!!

The sacrifices we make. Lol. Good idea. If that doesn't work, then an attenuator could be in your future.

That pedal sounds pretty good with a dimed amp.

I learned the trick years ago to keep the wife from ruining my guitar playing life. Stay single. Works for me. Although now and then my guitars don't like the way i look at them. :D

I practice around the house a lot with a wireless. The amp is in the next room, cranked, and I can shut the door. It's only 15 watts but it sounds like a monster in there. The door can be opened, by degrees, if you want a little more; occasionally my wife will walk over to the door and open it a little wider.
I have a Soul Food hooked up in there, too.

I've been using two very different klones lately, but i have not found they make my amp less loud!

Interestingly, I normally play loud every afternoon but have been busy and missed out three days in a row.
My wife actually complained that it's bad to not play loud and often!

My Wife from home with Covid counseling Students at Vanderbilt University via video, so I can be a bit disruptive at times:eek:. I go iPad and headphones through my Katana and I can rip. It’s still better for me loud!! Covid sucks..

    Wife/female partner vs amp?

    Sorry, amp loses every time.

My wife excitedly told me there’s a lot of space in the storage room in the new house for my amps. I told her I was thinking I’d have the amps upstairs in the office to have them nearby should I want a quick jam during the day.

She gave me what must’ve been a 10,000 yard stare.

Maybe I can compromise and get one of those cute little Yamaha THRs for the office.

I think "storage" is the key word here. ;)

This is psychological warfare. Plan your moves carefully.

Ha ha isn't that the truth heh? This is not to bash or put down any woman. But the fact is a lot of ladies don't have a hobby some the only hobby they have is reality shows gossiping looking at what others are doing. Or not doing. However most ladies are afraid that if you become a musician going to cheat on them. Some ladies don't play music and they still cheat. And if any man or woman have a good marriage or relationship and they cheat on one another Well then you are not a real woman or a man. So don't be stupid Don't risk everything for just that one night stands and loosing it all.

I still have my Scholtz "Rockman" from the '80's for this purpose!
Luckily my studio is in the basement and her Zen-Den is on the 2nd floor, so we coexist pretty well.

My partner has migraines very often. Usually around the same time I get a new buzz box! Seriously though he likes to relax or draw while I play. It’s more like therapy in the way I just go where it takes me...and he rides along. Last night I was riding a rhythmic wave of choppy trem and chorus. Lovely.

My wife got so tired of the bassman on "3" that I suggested buying a California Tweed would solve her problems...:D

Depends on your living situation, but yeah, I just use pedals>cab sim>DAW>headphones at home. I have a reactive load attenuator and a nice collection of amps, but the headphones rig sounds better than an attenuated amp. The lady of the house has bat-like hearing. I gave up on playing through speakers at home a long time ago. I get to crank my tube amps with the band every weekend so I’m good. :)
