Anyone else have issues with wide range pickups?I had coil splits installed,G.B & E strings were way more responsive than Low E.A and D,i guess because of them being forward, and bottom 3 being closer to the bridge, aint too impressed with wide range, looks like a mod coming up.Even raising the screws on the E.A.D strings didn,t even the sound out.

If we're talking true Wide Range pickups, this makes perfect sense. They actually have six threaded magnets per coil, but three are hidden under the cover (and adjustable from underneath). Unless you lower the other three to a similar height, you'll have three high and three low on each coil. Since the pickups weren't originally designed with splitting in mind, this will cause an imbalance when only one coil is active. You can lower the high manets but they'll have to go way down and you'll lose a lot of output.

My WRHB was made with Alnico 5 by Seymour Duncan's Custom Shop, and the coil split works great. I've used it in the neck and middle positions of a guitar and now the middle position of a Squier Bass VI. I use the split quite a lot and it fits right in with the stock single coils.

Glad for ya,but it didn,t work for mine, even my tech guy said they sound uneven, and he installed the coil splits, and he very good at what he does, but anyway, each to their own,i,ve ordered SD.It,s all good.
