Why would someone want to own cows?

I think mom and dad got married in 47. They got a cow from her mom and dad for a wedding present. Was fairly common they said.

After herding my grandkids 3 >200# hogs down the road and finally getting them penned back(twice in a week) my wife said “I never want animals”. I said I think I’m with you now. I’d been thinking sheep and less mowing and more chops.

How does a cow "accidentally" give birth?

I don't think cows have delayed implantation. I'm just saying, I don't think my neighbor has his mind made up, what the weather was gonna be like and whether it would be a good time for any of his brood cows to commence gestation. One doesn't usually see, just one calf while the rest of them have none.

Or.

Thanks for making me think about this. Now I am betting, the others will be giving birth very soon as well. This little one is just a premature one. Those other gals, are mighty round right now!

To have a good excuse to cuss!

There are cows (and sheep & deer) living in fields near me.
Sometimes, they get really noisy.

Sometimes, I want to go outside and cuss loudly and inventively over the back fence. But I don't. I don't think they speak English.
