My Dad called it rounders, he went to a small country school where there wasn't enough kids for 2 teams, so they all played rounders together.. pick handle, tennis ball, corn sacks for bases...

I played a few seasons of baseball at highschool and my older brother won a gold medal at the world masters games in over 45's baseball.... he also coached his sons teams...

I have a pretty good understanding of the game... it's been played competitively in Oz for a long time...;)

getbent, I have no understanding of the names you speak of, but if it truly would resolve this largely dystopian nightmare we're currently in.... Bring it on :)

So when one of them turns 10, is it a happy birthday or a sad birthday?

And yet another year that the Angels will miss the playoffs by a mile. Mike Trout deserves to be on a playoff caliber team. I think he'll be a Dodger before he becomes a Yankee.

Baseball is cosmic, we shouldn't associate it with insignificant Earthly problems.

The old men in the bar can solve any problem in the world after three drinks.

I agree, Trout to NYY is the right move. Eventually. The Giants should sign him for a couple of years to make sure he’s up to Yankee snuff.
It’s significantly different since you ask, but football/soccer is a game played by toddlers (some of them girls, apparently that’s even worse). Seems a silly criterion to define sport.

Oh? I’ll bet you wouldn’t expect the Spanish Inquisition either.

butterfly effect and cosmic rightness. duke snider is a dodger, willie mays is a giant, mickey mantle and mike trout are yankees... in FACT, Trout might be the most Yankee as he A) is from Jersey and B) looks way too much like springsteen and C) would bring back the thing that made the Yankees great.

I grew up with baseball. I played baseball through college. I coached baseball until about 10 years ago. I umpired baseball until about 5 years ago. I love going to the yard and watching the game, I love to watch the Giants on television and listen to them on the radio. This isn't about fandom, it is about cosmic rightness. Mike Trout should be in pinstripes.

For the australians, they play tons of baseball, for the world football fans, this is like having Pele in the right colors on the right field to violate it... well it sends ripples of wrong through the earthly vibe and can lead to no good.

The angels have Ohtani... even that isn't helping them... let Trout go.

Mike Trout was (and probably still is) a die hard Phillies fan. He even attended the parade in 2008. I stand by my statement. F the Yankees.

The way that I think that old men in a bar solve the world’s problems might not be exactly what you’re thinking, and your number of drinks is low IMO/E.

I grew up with the S.F. Giants (the other form was AAA), but I have a signed baseball from the only world series game I attended in 1963; which the Yankees lost in 4 games to the Dodgers (a False team if there ever was one except for a couple of pitchers). That ball has Ford, Mantle, Maris, Richardson, Steve Hamilton (with a star to dot the I in Hamilton), Berra and Ralph Houk. I don't care if any of them played for another team, they all needed to be Yankees; except maybe Hamilton who I only remember because of the signature. Trout should be a Yankee and Springer should be an Astro. For good measure Pete should be in the Game's Hall of Fame.

3 to solve and 4 to forget. There's a fine line between genius and ummmm, I forget what the other one's called...

I don't think I understand your post anymore than I do Getbent's. I'm pretty sure it's because I'm not like a deep thinking guy, but on the other hand you both might be crazy, and I'm just fine. I don't drink alcohol anymore, but if I did, after reading your and GB's post, now would be a good time to break out the Jack.:lol:

I knew an Omar once, but he was a diehard Mariners fan so I never listened to what he had to say.

This was timely. I'm reading his biography at the moment.
