If they were $2200 dollars, don't you think a lot more people would be willing to buy it? I know I would. They're way, way too overpriced.

+1 or 2 or whatever we are up to

It doesn't need to be relic'd and it doesn't need to have the TV Jones pups or the fancy button tuners, if that brings the price point down.

Should be easy, right? Then again, for how many years did we have to campaign for a MIM Esquire?

Marketing definitely. And way over priced. That's what they were asking for a mint 57 Strat in the 80's before the Japanese bought em and upped the price.

Not to be used in polite company .....

YEP--- Male/female ... a slang term directed at another person ... a rather rude labeling of the person to whom it is directed.

I refuse to be more specific .... but it would fit nicely into the lyrics of a gangster rap song ...

Las Cabronita, Cabronita being a feminine noun and las being the plural definite article. So "the cabronitas" would in Espanol, be "las cabronita".

Now your turn, what does "skunk works" mean?

Originates with Lockheed Martin's prototyping department. From Wikipedia: "The designation "skunk works", or "skunkworks", is widely used in business, engineering, and technical fields to describe a group within an organization given a high degree of autonomy and unhampered by bureaucracy, tasked with working on advanced or secret projects."

What I meant was that Fender CS doesn't really do much that's technologically innovative, because they're smart enough to know that that's a small market for a guitar company. What customers want from Fender is new ways of packaging old ideas. Guitars like La Cabronita create an image, and if enough people react to it and talk about it (as we are), they know they're on the right track. I do think it's odd that they didn't do much with the Telemaster idea, since it's pretty obvious that there are customers for those.

    Okay...

Maybe it's because it's a Custom Shop guitar...I get that. But pardon my ignorance, do the TV Jones pickups (@ $150 @ Stew Mac) worth the upcharge?

Sorry to go off of topic to this thread, but, have you seen all the videos of them beating the slaves as they're making those beautiful Classic Vibe Customs?? it's shameful. Mark had email correspondence with the plant manager, and you could tell from his words that they must have had bamboo shots under his fingernails at the time.. My CVC even had tiny spots on it that I'm sure must be cat-of-nine-tail whip lashes that missed the slaves ...

Buy yourself a humbucker equiped '72. Buy a set of TV Trons which are TV classics in a regular humbucker case. Drop them in. Done. You have the basics. It just won't look the same.

    -$960 total

Save another $130 or so by going with GFS (but then what's the point?)

add another $100-150 for bisgby, which the Custom Shop model desperately needs.

the hype about these guitars amazes me....
The thing is, Fender would make an awesome move if they wait a little while, until everyone wants one, wait a little more.....and then make them a standard production guitar, with a lower price tag....they would sell like mad

Yes Cabronita is female, Cabron can be meant many ways such as a small precocious boy getting in trouble is sometimes called Cabron. Cabron can also be used in a bad notation similar to a bastard. In this application I believe it's meant as a "nasty little girl" in a "special" way. You can make what you want out of that

La Cabronita may mean lil' bastard, but after hearing the price, to quote Johnny 'Guitar' Watson, "Ain't that a *****?"
