Why doesn't Gibson make guitars with maple fretboards?

Maple fretboards on Gibsons?

Maple, and other hardwoods for fretboards? Other woods for bodies?
No big deal. There is no reason that it can't be done, and done well.
However, these ^^^^^^^ things were disgusting. Orgy at the Circus.
The Gibson name, at one time, represented achievement, but when they stamped it on those...

This Gibson is the most Versatile Guitar I have ever played besides the 1983 Fender Stratocaster Elite model with it's Lindy Fralin active Electronics. This early 70's Gibson can sound like ANY guitar, including a Fender Strat or Tele or Jaguar and a Les Paul Std (and I worked for Fender for 28 years). Carlos Santana was involved with its development and played the ones he was given by Gibson for 12 years, his early PRS model was a literal ripoff of the Gibson L6S right down to the 8 position rotary selector switch. He called the L6S his "Rainbow" because of the wide variability of the sounds it could create. You couldn't have a more "Maple" Gibson as the Neck was a 2-piece hard Maple, and the Body was 2 or 3-Piece solid Maple. Al Di Meola and Eric Clapton (along with a L5S) played them. Gibson's purpose, take on Fender, Duh.

The PuPs on the L5S were designed by and made for Gibson by Bill Lawrence for the first few years and then Gibson made them internally. The 1972 and 73 years are the most sought after L6S issues.

The L6s was essentially a "slab body" version of the sound chambered carved archtop and 2x more $$ expensive L5S. But the L6S turned out to be more sound versatile, so L5S sales crashed after the L6S was released and the L5S was discontinued shortly after.

They mostly came in Natural Clear Nitro finish, but later years Sunburst and Solid colors were added (1979 and 80 from Japan), and near the end of it's model life, manufacture was moved to Japan with no loss in build quality or sound. Even a few were made with Ebony fretboards as Di Meola played along with his all Maple model

So much for Gibson NOT being serious about building with Maple, you can't get any more "Maple!"

You think they would have released a guitar with a maple neck and a robot truss rod, at some point under the previous ownership.

My Epiphone Wildkat has a supposed maple neck (I suck at IDing wood species), but a rosewood board...not that this is relevant to this discussion. The only guitars I have with maple boards are my Fender '72 RI Thinline, but can't feel the wood through the thick poly over it. Also, my Squier Bronco bass, which feels like, I could be wrong, feels like unfinished, or very minimally, maple - same with it's neck. One of my most affordable guitars, and the neck/fretboard feel is sublime. My other favorite board is the ebony on my BMG....I like ebony, I like maple, but I like rosewood, too. Nevermind, none of this is pertinent

Was the body all blonde too? ( Spruce top/ maple body)

BTW the Ibanez guy I referenced also had ( has?) an all natural finish Strat w/ maple fretboard and white pickguard
    * My guitar then ( stolen in 1980) was a 1976 Les Paul Signature!

Yes the body was all maple/spruce, or at least similar colour to it.
There's a special place in hell for guitar thieves! Your Signature would be worth a penny or two by now
