Why would you re-lice ANYTHING? I mean if you have lice, I would think you want to get rid of them, and KEEP them gone

Lice aside--I've worked on guitars with switches that look like that, and they were switches I installed new. It would not surprise me if that pic is of a switch that had a year or three of heavy gigging by a player that sweats a lot.

Angus Young's tech "bags" the switch and controls in his guitars because Angus sweats like an iced tea in the summer in Savannah. The plastic bag keeps the sweat out...for a while.

Why do people spend the money on capacitors that look like 50's bumble bees, but even in their product description they are clearly not (just covered in what looks like bumble bee's coverings)?

That switch has seen better days and needs to be retired to the bin, even if it is some sort of original switch.

    Reaction to switch one:
Well with the soldering skills displayed, the switch had no future and may have "thrown in the towel"

    Reaction to switch two:
I have wondered for ages why the outdated slider contact switch was still a commonly used thing. Upon viewing the image, "yep, modern sealed switch, its about time. I'd pay $4 for that"
    Upon seeing the ask....
    WTF!
Perhaps it is specially designed for controlling dentists drills or something.

    I dont get it.

That's a fiberglass wafer CRL, not a vintage one. I have an early 50s CRL in my Tele (65-70 yrs old) and it doesn't look anything like that.
