its funny how Richards criticizes Bonham's drumming when Charlie Watts is nothing more than a metronome

When you're in direct competition with someone, it's hard to give an overly enthusiastic endorsement. Successful musicians like that will usually rave about their influences, ala Keef and Chuck Berry, but not their contemporaries so much.

I think with those particular two it's in part because when Zep broke through, they (Pete and Keith) were suddenly seen as being somewhat old news. Plus, as Pete says, Zeppelin in many ways eclipsed The Who and I say that as a big Who fan.

I can appreciate it, but never cared much for Led Zep music (though I am not a rock star).

I think Townsend summed it up: "Because they became so much bigger than the Who in so many ways in their chosen field".

And hear I was, didn't even know rock stars hated Zeppelin. Now I'm going to have to re-evaluate a lot of things and try to wrap my head around this.

Jack White doesn't trust anyone who doesn't like Led Zep.

A lot of people don;t like Jack White.

There are 7 billion of us on our soggy rock hurtling through space - you can't please 'em all.

    I love Jack White.

I don't like Led Zeppelin at all. Wish I did, but I never got what all the fuss was about. Admittedly, I'm only 24 and not into most other classic rock either.

Yup. Jealousy. And that's a shame, because all three of those bands made tons of great music.

Afaic only the first two albums ripped off the blues guys. By IV they were totally original and inspirational.
