Why do people use Photobucket?

I used to use it years ago and forgot about it till I saw this thread mentioned. Most forums years ago didn’t have the attach files icon below so you had to run a host website to display pictures.

Photobucket didn't used to be like that, then they tried to monetize and hold everyone's photos hostage. Nobody uses them anymore. Use Imgur.

Loads of guitars I owned/flipped.

I’d love to see them . I know I’ve forgotten a lot

The acoustic guitar forum requires you to use a host. Oh yeah and also requires you to be a financial member before you can even post a pic! I didn't bother joining, they're a bunch of stuffed shirts.

The main answer is most people don't.

The world has by and large moved on from Photobucket like we have many other obsolete internet sites and technologies. The fun part about the internet though is that a lot of it is immortal and sticks around forever.

The only time you need an account is if you want to organize/catalog your pics.

Photobucket became irrelevant three years ago when their money-grubbing policies ended their vision.

You can pay a subscription fee and the watermark goes away.

I use smugmug (paid).

That's how it works? I thought it was maybe a dumb way of advertising. I don't think Aunt B would be very happy with a big P on her forehead.

I downloaded all my albums before they went nuts, and they never were exclusive.
some threads with some of my pb content are still up - some are not.
logic didn't seem to be their forte.

My first three or four threads here had images hosted by photobucket. I am not paying to get the watermark removed. I think I still have the vast majority of the photos in their original form, so I guess the information is still available.
It was a business decision which (from memory) cost the CEO his job, and is probably taught in University business schools in the how not to 101 class.

Not me - I copied everything to my computer and DELETED everything from their site and closed my account!
