Hello!! So I switched out my stock 250k pots for some 500k Fender CTS pots. When I put the jobs on there is like a half inch gap below them. Should I just stock some washers on below the control plate and call it a day or am I missing something?

The threaded shafts are taller than the stock pots. Looks like you got what is usually referred to as "medium shaft" pots. They ain't short shaft...but they also ain't long shaft.

It's close enough that all you need are more washers between the pots and the underside of the guard.

Did your new pots come with, or do you have, those "toothy" washers? The ones that looks sort of like a buzzsaw, but with the saw part on the inside of the ring. You can use those on the pickguard side of the pot to keep a little more of the pot under the hood.

I guess any washer will do, but those are the ones I tend to use.

The ones I ordered were simply called Fender CTS Split Shaft 500k pots. I'm going to need to add at least 4 washers to each one to actually allow the knobs to sit slightly above the control plate.

They did come with one of those and I do have it installed under the control plate along with a washer and nut above and it still sits that high. I have it installed on my pictures.

You quoted my post but didn't say anything in response to it. The solution to your issue is contained in what you quoted. You're good to go!

I would add a jam nut under the guard to adjust the height. I assume the control cavity is deep enough.

Depending which is easier to acquire I'd get 2 more nuts and then set the height above the plate with a second nut underneath it. Saves faffing around with 3-4 washers trying to get the height just right, which judging from the amount of space to fill you are going to need.

Add another nut on the threaded bushing inside. Adjust it to the height you want.
Or add some washers in there.
