Years ago at a place I was working IT at, I had to help one of the more hoity-toity ladies with the fancier hair, makeup, and clothes. I'd worked with her before but she wasn't hard to work with.

Anyway, I commented, "ah the great smell of brut" one afternoon in her cube and she gave me an earful about expensive perfume and yadda-yadda.

So much for expensive perfumes (and the effect on guys anyway)

No one would say that, most might not even realize that an commercial influenced them to buy something. Advertising works, or billions of dollars wouldn’t be spent on ads. Facebook, Google, Youtube, every tv show, news show, and even professional sports relies on the money they earn from advertising.

Oh, advertising works. We saw a DVR commercial, and got one. We now DVR and record shows, so we can skip commercials on the replay. Looks like the DVR commercials won that round.
