    Big D Perkins playing on (Help me somebody)is some of the most soulful playing I have ever heard. Check it out, just a couple of posts before this. :)

    Steve Ferguson, Big Al Anderson, and Johnny Spampinato. All three rocked a Telecaster during their stints in the greatest band in the world, NRBQ. New guy Scott Ligon is pretty dang good on a Tele too.

    Yes indeed; I grew up hearing and seeing Waylon, so the Telecaster became imprinted deeply into my being.

    Some important names that have cropped up deserving to be re-name-dropped;

    Mr. James Burton

    Arlen Roth - to be honest, the live playing cuts that I've seen via YouTube have seemed a bit heavy-handed, but what gave me real perspective was having picked up a copy of the DVD 'Masters of the Telecaster' that I happened upon at a sale - a companion to his book of the same name.
    In that, he's playing his '53 Blackguard (what is it about the Teles from that year, they tend to be so remarkable to their owners? I could sure use some of that magic =]) to demonstrate aspects of playing and such, and honestly, there is some truly sublime playing on there. It's very real and in the room and has a sort of 'conversational' feel that rolls off of his player's tongue as smoothly as silk.

    Albert Lee, for sure

    So many...

    I knew Steve Ferguson and got to jam with him a few times. I was playing bass at the time. Long after he left NRBQ.

    RIP Steve

    Ted Greene got some great jazz tones out of a Tele.

    One passing mention of James Burton?
    People, people, people, James is the man,all other country players follow behind.
    Plenty of great Tele players out there, many great suggestions above.

    I think there's a bunch of folks on this site that love teles. Glad I found it. Saturday I'm devoting the day to this thread. Quite a story to be found in all your posts.

    Robbie Robertson of The Band was a master. Here's a little R&R:

    Mike Campbell sometimes uses a Tele and the early Heartbreakers records have great tone. Also, don't forget about Joe Strummer.
