I need a good home for an EVM 12L speaker I have. I want something open back about the width and depth of a Twin Reverb (or DSR head) in cream and oxblood. Who's doing good work at a fair price?

I've used the Cab Guy, and Stage Craft. My Stage Craft 2x12 closed back is the best sounding cabinet I have ever owned. And the SC 1x12 that I used to have was killer as well. I would never have sold it except that I needed the space back. I know you mentioned open back, but his work is so good, I have no hesitation in recommending even though I have not gotten an open back from him.

Cab Guy is also good, and rather inexpensive. Sometimes it takes a little while for a response from him, but the results are right on.

JD Newell made my 2x10 Super Reverb cab, good price and decent turnaround (3 weeks), I'm sure he can make a cab for your EV speaker just the way you want it... www.jdnewell.com

    Hi Paul,

I just got a nice "Tough Trucker" (his take on the Hard Truckers JG-1) speaker cabinet and a Twin Reverb head cabinet from TRM Guitar Cabinets. I bought them raw and finished them myself with wipe-on poly-u.

Tim was great to work with and was very reasonable. Not sure if he offers exactly what you want, but worth checking out.

Good luck and all the best.

Tim Does offer a cabinet specifically made for the EVM2L

I have JBL E120's and the cabinet specs are really really close so I had him build the

    TS806 cabinet.

    It is ported

I also had him ake it with 3 piece back do it can be used semi open and open and also sealed.

He can also make it so you can seal off the ports.

Have it made in 3/4 Baltic Birch. Around 350 dollars.

I also put Neutrik connectors and Belden 14 gauge wire.

    Hi Paul,

Here's a shot of the cabinets I got from TRM Guitar Cabinets ... just FYI.
I ordered mine raw and I finish sanded and poly-u'd them. I know this isn't exactly what you are looking for, but I wanted to give you an idea of his quality.

    Cheers,

Recently I purchased a 2x12 cab from Siesmic. Its the Luke Series. Really nice cab for $160. The only issue is the mounting hardware. It took a little re-engineering and about $10 worth of T-nuts and screws. Maybe a hour labor. Having said that the cab sounds really great with some Celestions that I took out of my Blkstar HT-60. I will upgrade those as well. It was just and experiment. Worth it IMO.

I got a Newell built to a custom size and its the balls.

    really great.

interesting guy, communicates well over email, but, I dont know anyone thats ever seen him. If you live in the atlanta area, he tells you when its ready, you schedule a pickup, drive over to his house... and its sitting on the front porch.

I live about a mile from him. Met him when I took frames from 2 Showman cabs to regrill for me; a 15" tone ring cab and a 12" tone ring cab. Nice guy! Then I remembered I had met him at a guitar show in Atlanta several years back when he was just starting. He did a great job on the grills and the cabs of his I've seen look solid.
