And/or what are peeps various views on this practice?

I have a brand new AVRI an I'm in a quandary.

Guilty. It's an expensive guitar; I'm not stuck on convention of it must be perfectly vintage. I'm not particularly lucky and SWMBO is a klutz and has already knocked one guitar off a stand; I need to manage risks.

THAT SAID ... now that my supply of 100 Grolsch beer washers have arrived, I'm seriously considering returning to vintage and using those little orange beauties! I have 98 of them left ... guess I better go buy/build some more Teles.

I do. I put Schallers on it. I'm freakishly tall, and only have one strap that is long enough, so all my guitars share the same strap.

it's a brand new guitar.. it isn't vintage anything yet. nes pa?..

put lockers on if that's your normal way of strapping up.... and your other guitars/straps have lockers... or you could screw the strap direct to the wood "vintage style?... ;)

Every AV has them, of mine.

    But my No-caster does not.

Yep, that's why I took them off my JV Strat (which came with them) and put regular buttons on, like the rest of my guitars.

I don't gig though. Just play at home and at friends, usually sitting, but I wear a strap anyway for getting up to adjust the amp etc. The clicking was driving me crazy, plus I don't like metal parts swinging around on the end of my straps trying to ding my '52 as I put them on.

Even if I played out, I don't think I'd use them.

I have them on ALL of my electric guitars (Schaller). I keep all original parts anyway when I change hardware, and the Schallers retrofit, so I'd have zero hesitation in putting them on an AVRI - or on an actual vintage Telecaster or Stratocaster for that matter.

I've personally never had issues with clinking (ay home by myself, at band practice, or gigging out), or damaging my bodies with the strap attachments.

Some of my guitars have Dunlop strap-locks, which I prefer to the Schaller type, but when I got my AV62RI Custom I decided that they'd look incongruous. So I compromised by fitting the wide-flange type of ordinary strap button. With the thick leather ends of the Neotech strap I use, no mishap has yet befallen me. Yes, I know that strap is hardly "period-correct" either, but it works for me...

Never dropped a guit off a strap, so never saw the need for them. Maybe I'll run into a problem in the next 45 years. If so, I'll grab a set or two.

I also have them on all of my Fender Teles. I keep the originals just in case I sell the guitar. One of the Teles is a '52 Reissue. I don't use them for my Gretsch or Rickenbacker.

I've tried all kinds of strap locks and most of them work just fine but I've found a simple solution that I like best of all. I just use a big flat washer. Remove the strap button from the guitar, put the flatwasher on it and then push the whole assembly through the strap hole and screw back into the guitar. I find it's far less visually obtrusive and there's no way the strap's coming off. And it's probably the cheapest method of all (but not nearly as much fun as having to drink a few Grolsch to get some strap locks)

And why would you need straplocks that enable you to remove the strap?! Each guitar deserves it's own strap. Are there really people who own multiple guitars yet have only one strap that all the guitars have to share? I think this is not healthy for a guitar's self-esteem and could well lead to some pricey guitar therapy in the not too distant future. Shame on you.

Here's a pic I found on the web of what I'm describing.
