law & order

i think mike post was the composer of the theme....he usually gets a decent guitarist to play on his charts. a quick search of the web didn't turn up any names for the law and order credits, though. sorry

There are several different versions on that tune that correspond to the different versions of the show (regular, SVU, Criminal Intent, etc.)

I think I know the one that you're talking about. It's got that thick distorted slide thing going on....almost Billy Gibbons-ish. Is that it?

I'm not sure which version of that show that it goes with, but I've always liked it too. Figured it out once, while I had the guitar in my hand, sitting on the couch as the show came on. I think it's in Bb, believe it or not.

Tangential at best, but I've done some work over at Mike's studio in "beautiful downtown Burbank" and man, he's got a killer collection of acoustics and electrics over there (and a wall full of Emmy awards, to boot). Don't recall any killer Teles, but he's definitely into getting real guitar sounds (although I cannot vouch for the "Law and Order" theme). Great little studio. Just think about all the famous themes that emanated from that place....

OK, back to your regularly scheduled discussion.:D

OK, if session guy was hoping he's getting residuals. If Mike Post himself, he doesn't need anymore money.

Whenever I hear the "DA-DA" of Law and Order I turn around and go the other way. My wife is an L n O junkie!

It certainly seems like I've seen Mike Post in credits for everything ever filmed. Must have boundless energy...

What I want to know is how much the dude who starts out the show makes in royalties. Almost at any time, every television region in the country has a Law & Order (of one of the many franchises) on.

I think there are some agencies that only have question when hiring. "Have you appeared on L and A?"

So is my mom. She DVRs every episode of every series, and hibernates in her sewing room with that stuff on constantly. Doesn't bother my dad, though, because it means he's free to do whatever he wants without interruption.

He gets it. It's so weird to think that I'm probably closer to your dad's age than yours...silly stuff!
