I've owned this Peavey Classic 30 for over 20 years, but it hasn't seen the light of day in quite awhile. I pulled it out a month ago & played with it but it had lots of noise issues. I did some of the Blue Guitar mods on it back when I first bought it, but didn't change filter caps at that time. The date code on the IC brand caps are from 1994 & given the reputation for those I thought it past due for a recap. So, with some fresh F&T's & some deoxIT all the noise issues are gone but I'm still not thrilled with it. It's rather bland sounding & I seem to remember that was my initial impression back when I first acquired it! I remember swapping the stock speaker for this blue Eminence looking one, and maybe it is, I just don't recall. I can't find one single number or name on it. Does this look familiar to anyone?

Yeah, I suspected it was Eminence made, but which model? I have a vague memory that it was supposed to be a Blue Dog flavor & I thought it was an improvement over the stock Blue Marvel. It sounds good when I crank it through the OD channel but just sounds flat when normal channel is engaged. Definitely better with humbuckers than single coils.

It looks much like the Mojo British series minus their label. I have two here. Some say either the
frame is from Eminence, rest Mojo or the complete speaker.

Emi made so many models and would make a custom model for any small amp builder willing to order a whole pallet of speakers.
Those commonly had no model designation, and Emi would probably include custom paint if requested and paid for.
I have a quad of no model Emi 12s sold to an amp company in Boston making bass amps designed around I believe the Marshall Super Bass guitar amp as bass amp sound. Kind of a more bassy V30 & Classic Lead 80 blending.

BTW: add some strain relief!!!

That appears to be a Weber recone maybe? they mark the gasket with wattage and ohms often and sell speakers in various colored frames. But doesn't look like their frame .... recone by them? 16 ohms?
Not sure that magnet looks like a Emi magnet though... hmmmm
Jensen also uses that type of frame on C12N's and the like.

The magnet shape looks a lot like the Jensen C12N, the Emi 1218 doesn't look like that. However the Emi 1258 DOES look like that magnet...

I think your theory about it being a custom model is most likely the case. It definitely has more bottom end than the Blue Marvel.

From what I've read on the Weber site they can't recone Eminence speakers, they say their parts aren't compatible. I see what you mean about it looking a lot like the Jensen C12N, hmmm. I just checked and the wattage & impedance is hand inked on the spider. I think I'll contact both Eminence and Weber to see if they claim it. Thanks for your input!

Well, no, I hadn't considered it, but I'll give it a try & see what they say. Thanks

They'll ask for an Eminence number, so look for it so you can include it in the email to them. Look around and below the magnet for a numbered sticker. If there isn't one, look inside the basket with a flashlight.

Emi will be able to tell you not much most likely - they will tell you the customer owns the spec. Their records before the noughties when they started selling their own branded speakers are sketchy at best. Anthony who left to partner in a new business was very helpful but could only tell you the most general info like rough power and frequency range of OEM speakers. They'd have a part number. .
