Les Paul double cut, faded (2004)
    6.2 lbs.
'50s neck profile, nicely polished by use
The last owner had a level/crown done. The guitar is the only one I can recall that need nothing when I got it.
    Highly recommended.

What is everyone's opinion on this? I don't usually buy new gear (always used), but this strikes me as strange. This P90 Gibson Les Paul Junior Tribute sells on Sweetwater for $899, but I just noticed Guitar Center has it for $679 (links below). That seems like a gigantic price difference. Other times I check prices on things, online retailers all seem to have the identical price. Do these kind of random discounts happen all the time, and is it just a great price, that I should think about jumping on it? Or am I missing something?

I do, I do.........repaired and played a 1958 Gibson Les Paul Special and wished the owner would have sold it to me.

Love some P09s. I've got a Special DC...

And a ratty '65 SG Junior...

I've also got a '71 SG II that I converted to sort of a poor man's SG Junior.

But just to go against the grain a little - I bought a Studio 60s Tribute new back in 2011, but it was sounding kinda dark last time I played it. So I got a pair of mini-hums and turned it into a poor man's Deluxe GT.

(Yes, the pickups are 'backwards.' No, I don't care. :p )

I've had a Jr and a Special (dbl cut). Both were great guitars.

I’ve got and frequently gig with a Leaksville Peavey Firenza loaded with P90s...it just gets it DONE for old country, classic rock, everything in between

I tried them a couple of times at GC. One was a dog, the other pretty darn good. Just stripped down, bare bones rockers. I was a little surprised about how cramped it felt, although it's not short scale. There are a lot of people who like them but there are already a ton of used ones out there. I suspect that's because it's cheap enough that a lot of people roll the dice on them.

Bottom line for me, it's not a mind-blowing price. If they blew them out at $500 that would be a different story.

If you were to spend $899, you might wait for a sale on their GC Exclusive Special. I was pretty impressed by that guitar...and on a good day, you might find it in the $679 range used.

As for the sales, I think it's all over the place. I remember Musician's Friend having the Special at $899, but not Guitar Center, then vice versa. And that's the same company.

I'm still searching for my Goldtop Les Paul Studio with P90's! The tribute 50's made in 2010-2011 are proving so hard to find!! but I cant wait to be in the P90 Les Paul club!
