There was a whole lotta magic that went down at Muscle Shoals when the Allman Brothers came to town. It all started with Duane Allman playing around with an empty bottle of coriciden. That’s the first time it got my attention. Whenever I listen to Derek Trucks, I can hear the ghost of Duane Allman in every note.

Really love David Lindsey's work with Jackson Browne.
His playing on Late for the Sky
Here's another vote for Ry Cooder. I'm not a fan of chops for chops sake although they do earn my utmost respect. But if you could rate musiciality then Ryland is at the top of my list.

If you like his musicality, you might also enjoy that of his idol.

George Harrison. His touch and expression on slide are unmatched IMHO.
Same here, George for me.

For the wilder variety, Johnny Winter ...

and I appreciate all the music Derek Trucks makes, but the slide content can be a bit too much for me.

In addition to many already named here, I really enjoy Kelly Joe Phelps playing. Just a monster of taste, tone, touch and phrasing.

Years ago, I was impressed by an Aussie gentleman named Dave Hole. Slide on a ES-335 with his left hand over the top....he can really tear it up.

I caught John Mooney at a New Orleans Jazz Fest several years back, he has been one of my favorite slide players ever since.
