Who is your favorite fingerstyle jazz player on the scene TODAY, so no Lenny Breau or George Van Eps, as wonderful as they are

Tuck Andress.
Martin Taylor was on my radar and in a guitar magazine interview, he said he was playing upstairs in this fancy expensive hotel. As Martin was done and leaving, he heard solo guitar over at the quick restaurant they had in the lobby. Martin stopped and his jaw dropped. There was Tuck playing solo guitar.

Martin has since mastered Tuck's amazing funky right hand featuring double picking with the thumb playing up/down strokes. Martin uses this Tuck technique all the time today.

Martin playing fast, that thumb is crazy good.
This is amazing.

Ralph Towner and Steve Herberman.
Anyone remember Steve Towner in Atmospheres?

I'm another big fan of Eric's. Its kind of interesting that his guitar of choice is a small bodied SCGC acoustic, not the usual big old archtop.
I really like that about his style. I also like he doesn't request traditional woods but backs and sides of cocobollo instead of mahogany or maple.
It is a great sound and helps give him an identifiable tone in guitar jazz.
