I've had a couple. Day skipper and vhf licences and qualified psychometric tester, pretty much unused.

I currently work in a special school and the checking/training is seriously in depth and constantly being refreshed or updated.

What did they do before there were professional licenses issued by the government. I think there are other ways to deal with this. And I say this as a PE. However, again, much more from me and we are in a political conversation as well as a technical one.

Nope, not me, but you're very observant, I thought they did a fine job of repairing some of the visible damage with white duct tape. I drive for a first-class outfit that spares no expense in keeping their fleet of quite old, high-mileage, busses in tippy-top cosmetic condition.

In case there's any doubt, that was sarcasm.

Another licensed engineer 28 years, lots of states. I had a business license once, an international drivers license, and a USGC operators license at one time. I think I have a small arms conceal carry license, if it hasn't expired.

I've got a Building Contractors License, for the simple reason that you're required to have one around here to get a building permit. Also the lead certification, which means you can remodel pre 1978 houses. I think I'll say phooey next year and flip burgers instead.

Lawyer here too, and that's exactly right. Most state bars provide a means for the public to make sure their lawyer is in fact a real lawyer, as well as to file ethics complaints against a lawyer. All the lawyer jokes notwithstanding, my state bar takes these complaints seriously, and tends to be fairly aggressive in not only punishing lawyers who are found to violate the rules of ethics but reporting criminal activity by a lawyer to appropriate authorities. In practice, the bad apples don't last long and the system works far better than the public at large thinks.

I had the Series 7 and Series 63 stockbroker's license and a license to sell insurance a million years ago in the 1990s. The Series 7 required massive cramming before taking a computerized test.

'After the Gold Rush' outlines the incident that led to Texas licensing engineers as a prelude to attempting to explain why there ought to be a PE classification on software.

I have licenses that require background checks to actively use.

I paid $15 so my dog could have a license from the county. He can now legally drive, I guess.

When we got our dog, I tried to keep a low profile and avoid paying for the license, because in my opinion a license is simply a tax. But the county somehow found out, and even mailed me a letter, which included a description of the dog!

Law license here too like the other couple suckers... Joking, it’s a fine profession as long as you find an area you enjoy.

That reminds me, how could I have overlooked my 'Artistic License'????

I used it for for years in the creation of my whack-job guitar designs.
