How many TDPRI members live in Louisiana? I'm from Central and it seems like me and Tab Benoit are about the only tele players around here! Not much tele love in the bayou state?! I know Boris Bubbanov lives somewhere in NOLA... But who else? Who DAT plays a tele in Louisiana?

Evangeline Parish here... 15 miles north of Ville Platte and about 35 miles south of alexandria in a village called Turkey Creek. You must be familiar with the term "Cenla". My personal choice of guitar store around here is Red River Music over on Jackson st. in Alexandria

I have run into more good Tele players in record and music shops in Louisiana over the years than I do recently in Washington DC Metro, I will tell you that. There have got to be a least 20 Louisiana Tele players on this board on a consistent basis and other guys who stay away then come back from time to time.

But sometimes it seems like NOLA is simply not the same place it was 10 years ago. Yes, it was noontime midweek but I spent an entire lunch hour strolling down Royal to Ursuline then back on Bourbon to the conference I was attending and I didn't see anyone in the Quarter I knew. And I worked down there for 5 years. I'm scared to ask around much of the time - seems like everytime I inquire about someone I learn they've passed away. I'm therefore content to mind my own business.

Good folks over there. Back in the 1980's I was playing a lot and was fond of Al Whitney's Alexandria Music Sales but he passed away and that store fell to history.

I've never really been to Luna but believe I have been through there in the past. Maybe one day we could get us a Louisiana TDPRI jam together? Alexandria would be a good central location to meet.

Just noticed this post. I'm in NOLA. I see Tele players pretty regularly in clubs around town.

    Howdy,

Shreveport/Bossier City checking in. Just 320 miles from New Orleans..does that count as being part of Louisiana? ;)

That's the "paying" part of Louisiana. The southern portion (especially NOLA) is the "receiving" part of Louisiana. Therefore it counts more, no? :D
