Who Bought Something Because of The Quarantine? If So, What?

Discussion in 'Telecaster Discussion Forum' started by guitarist232345, Mar 22, 2020.

Did the quarantine make you buy something you wouldn't have bought otherwise?

Looking ahead to the next 12-18 months, I suspect that finding new US Fenders of any type will become harder. For that reason, and in order to keep the music industry ticking along for as long as possible, I went large and put in an order for a Tele Ultra. They're selling like hotcakes in the EU and I think supply will dry up for a while as supply chains go into hibernation.

I was buying (and tweaking) cheap Harley Bentons till now and decided it's time to get a real guitar. I haven't seen much chatter about the Ultras here on this forum so I might have to kick off a few threads once I get my hands on it. Can't wait!

Actually not purchased because of quarantine, but just before with good timing. Doing a search of Guitar Center now comes up with hardly any used Squiers. There was a bunch of used Strats, but now hardly any. Here's the Squier Affinity HH Telecaster I got a great deal on used from GC. String through body, matching head stock, and HH, just had to have it. Took care of some fret sprout, and it's a good player - unlike me.[IMG][IMG][IMG][IMG][IMG]

    Yea; Alcohol,Witch hazel,peroxide,non-perishable food,gas.

I not only have zero desire for any new gear, I have actually put most of my vintage gear up for sale, since I don't have any hopes of there being gigs when this is over. I think this pandemic is gonna do to live music what the 50s did to big band music. The live scene has been teetering on the brink before this at best, and I think this may be the final nail in the coffin.
When I sell all my stuff (gonna keep 1 guitar,1 amp,& an acoustic) I'll prolly use the $$ & buy a small motorhome & spend the remainder of my days travelling.

Now that all my neighbours are having to "stay at home" for the next few weeks/months (I work mostly from home anyway), I decided to buy a Strymon Iridium so that I could play using headphones and still get an amp in the room type sound. I'm very impressed with it.

Hate to admit it, but just pulled the trigger on a Neocaster from Mikael Springer. I'd been eyeing his work (and looking for a new axe that was right) for sometime, and heard some pretty rave reviews. Just as the crisis hit, he released a bolt-neck 25.5" thing, and I couldn't resist. Now, offloading the pieces that I will want to will be another story...

Just before the you know what hit the fan, I ended up selling off my American Deluxe Strat, Gibson Les Paul and a 58 Tele AVRI.

I replaced the 3 with my Broadcaster and a Rainsong Parlour.

My Tele desires were met with the Broadcaster and Esquire that I purchased previously, I ended up missing my Strat the most go figure!

After searching for a suitable replacement, I found a like new 2017 Classic 50’s Strat in Sea-foam Green! I was pleasantly surprised with the fit and finish and the pickups provide more traditional Strat tones than my Deluxe had previously.

Im actually kind of torn. Im running low on good sharp picks and just used my last pack of strings. I usually go to a local store and buy them. I don't want anyone to have to get out to mail 'em. I want to support the music store guys though. Not sure what to do.

My money is mainly going on food and bills, plus food for my aunt in Margate (UK), who I have been quite lucky in getting her a fortnightly run of essentials from Tesco. Thank the lord for home deliveries, as my aunt is 85, and not going out for her is normally not an option.

I had been looking at them since they came out and have viewed all the reviews on youtube so yesterday I pulled the trigger on a Fender Tonemaster Deluxe Reverb. Should have it in a few days.

Never worked on a radio before. A family friend was bending my ear on his HAM radio hobby a few months back, honestly it gave me HAM GAS at the time.
