I don't know if anyone has mentioned him but Scotty Anderson is an amazing guitarist!

    I don’t know if he’s been mentioned previously in this thread . . . but . . .

    Who would argue with Hendrix?

So this prominent band’s sax player reminisces, many years-later, about a conversation he had backstage with Jimi Hendrix after he saw the young band’s show at LA’s Whisky-A-Go-Go during the late 60’s:

“Walt, the horns are like one set of lungs," Parazaider said Hendrix told him. "And your guitar player is better than me."

    The guitarist: Chicago’s Terry Kath.

A life cut tragically short for one of the most gifted players ever.

    And sadly underrated.

Funny enough, my first thought when I opened this thread was "Mick Mars". Always liked his playing, never hear him mentioned as a great guitar player

Well, that's hard t say, since I feel that 99% of so-called "great" guitarists are overrated, but for underrated...I would hafta go with Duke Levine. THIS is the kind of playing I love.

Since Roy & Danny are no longer with us, he is THE best electric guitar player in the world today.

Andrew Latimer of Camel goes criminally unnoticed.

    Roye Albrighton from Nektar.

Also Pat Donohue, who played with Guy's All-Star Shoe Band on "A Prairie Home Companion".

Duke Levine and Johnny A. both play electric guitars the way I think they should be played!

Not really unknown, but probably under appreciated these days - and already mentioned - but you can't have too much Rory Gallagher.

    Exhausting just to watch...

Keith Scott, the longtime guitarist from Bryan Adams. One of the most delightful players, he makes every song better than before and he´s a guy who always plays for the song and not for the fastest or hottest licks.
