That's about it for me. I love guitar but chop monstrosity potential never struck me as the guitar's home turf. It's tough to watch a Yuja Wang video and think any guitarist could ever get that monstrous.

But a guitarist can simultaneously slam a power chord, howl, and gyrate suggestively. Why give that up?

Laur Jomets. Played with Sturgill Simpson for awhile; still a work in progress, maybe, but quite gifted.

You couldn't go to Sunday brunch in the 1970s without hearing his composition Icarus.

Personally I feel that some ones "technical abilities" are at times impressive.
But in reality I'd rather hear a well placed solo in a song.
Like the solo in Hotel California or the solo in Tom Pettys "Even the losers"
Walsh and Felder played brilliant solos that were perfect for the song.
And Mike Campbell's Les Paul Custom through an AC30 Solo on Even the Losers is just awesome IMO.

Guys like Yngwie are awesome. But after 5 minutes of hearing him I have to turn it off

so, i got sucked into watching some (a lot, tbh) of those "react" videos, and after watching several Beth Hart & Joe Bonnamassa videos,

(sure, I'm sure he's somewhere earlier in the list), I'm gonna add Bonnamassa, with the all-important qualification: as a side-man. When he's not "tryna put on a show" for the guitar-freaks, he can really do some stuff that builds the song.
