Looking to find new crazy good players to listen to for inspiration.

In recent years I've found, in no particular order:

    Josh Meader
    Julian Lage
    Mary Halvorson
    Greg Koch
    Leo Amudeo
    Lionel Loueke
    Pasquale Grasso
    Tom Quayle
    Matteo Mancuso
    Josh Smith
    Jonathan Kreisberg
    Mike Moreno
    Adam Rogers

To clarify: Tremendously tasteful playing and improvisation delivered with terrifying chops...
The 1% of 1%'ers of the instrument.
Not fast vain repetitions as the heathens do...
But the kind of stuff that leaves you shaking your head in wonder

    Emphasis on Enormously!

These days my favorites are, and of course no one but guitarists know them, in no particular order:

    Matt Schofield
    Andy Timmons
    Josh Smith (already noted)

I'd add John Scofield. I don't know if his talents fit with the others in the list, though.

Andee Blacksugar, former guitarist for Peter Murphy, now with KMFDM. Here he is on Jason Bieler's new album.

Here's something from his Youtube channel.

Best guitarist in NYC, for my money.

    Joe pass

Luiz Bonfá (I mean, this one is unreal. The phrasing is so good it makes Joe and Barney sound “standard.”)

Barney Kessel (there is a great clip out there with him and Burrell and grant green and grant just stops playing and looks at him for an entire chorus. this one gets some props for quoting rite of spring. Like what the hell? On TV, on “here’s that rainy day”?)

I can't think of anyone who fits the description better than Bill Frisell. Try his album of John Lennon music "All we are saying".

I'm not sure if the "technically accomplished" applies here but Johnny A and Rick Holmstrom are a couple of my current favs. Robben Ford sure qualifies.
