Deer Tick next Monday
Guided by Voices
I'm really wanting to see Ray Wylie Hubbard. He doesn't come around here much and I missed a chance to see him at a very small venue a couple of years ago.
I'd like to see Jimmy Buffett but I'm not paying that kind of money for tickets to see anyone.
Saw Jimmy Vaughn last week, and also Brad Stivers who is a killer Tele player in Austin.
Plan to see Knocked Loose, Knucklepuck, Moose Blood, Dixie Dregs, and Styx in the next few months.
Michael Schenker Fest (with Bonnet, Barden, and McCauley all singing) for my birthday.
Yeah, I keep thinking I cold catch Ray Wylie for like 20 years now. He's getting old now though. My sister in law saw him at a local grange hall 20 years ago and loved it. But then she's a bit of a hippie chick!
Just Saw Joe Russo's Almost Dead in Nashville (first time in the city and seeing the band).
So far Katy Perry and OCC3.
Coming uo Avett Brothers, Boz Scaggs, Sunny Sweeney, Wolf Alice and Whiskey Myers.
So far, Pearl Jam, The Temperance Movement.
Waiting for The Rolling Stones UK tour to be announced.
Was hoping to see Richie Kotzen in Chicago but that's my daughter's spring break so that won't work.
Joe Bonamassa and a week or so later Buddy Guy w/ Jonny Lang
So far I've got tickets to:
Chris Stapleton / Marty Stuart / Brent Cobb
Tedeschi Trucks Band / Drive-By Truckers / The Marcus King Band
same ones I saw last year.
I rarely see great artists/concerts.
I’m very much, for better or worse, a hand-to-mouth working musician.
I am often working, so I “can’t “ see great acts.
Also, without whining too much, I can’t afford to buy tickets at what they cost “these days”.
Blessedly, I have seen two brilliant, legendary artists this year.
I saw Paul Simon (for the second time), and Jerry Douglas.
Two of my friends had extra tickets after their respective wives couldn’t go.
Both shows were brilliant, and unforgettable!
I just missed Los Lobos and Big Head Todd because they threw me in the hospital again
But I’m going to see Redd this year one way or another !
I think I'm done for this year, but.
In February I ticked off Redd Volkaert & Stuie French and last night saw Albert Lee.
Just saw Phish on Friday! Good times! Feel terrible for all those headed to Curveball... Turnpike Troubadours in October. Anybody else passin through.
Marty Stuart next month
Dwight Yokum is playing a small theater near here next month. We plan to go.
Dead and Company
Tedeschi Trucks Band
Drive by Truckers
Marcus King Band
Nels Cline 4
Dwight Yoakam again
That’s through tomorrow. I haven’t listed a bunch of local and regional acts. Listing them like this is sobering. This is a pretty typical year - I forget how much bread I drop on live music. It’s easy when one lives in a great music city, as I do...
My best year ever, some are yet to come:
King Gizzard and the Lizard Wizard
Guided By Voices (twice)
MC5 50th Anniversary (in Detroit)
Mastodon w/ Dinosaur Jr.
Slayer, Anthrax, Lamb of God
Jeff Beck, Paul Rodgers, Anne Wilson
Possibly Car Seat Headrest and the Oh Sees
This is like my version of gear pics
