Were both colors offered in 1973 or just white? I con't know which one I like better...
It would have been 8 screws and white in '73.
And the white pickguards from that era yellow quite a bit with age.
Thank you. Looking to purchase an original to that era for a fair price. There are a couple of reissues on ebay way overpriced
There's this one on Reverb but it doesn't specify if it;s a reissue. Good pricem (it says it's "parchment" though)
It would not have been cream...
It will be white only.
If I remember correctly, the black pickguards started appearing again in the early 1980's, to make them look more like the 50's.
Here is a pic of my 1973 Tele for reference.
I know you didn't ask but it might be cool to put a clear pick guard on it since it's natural or even no pickguard at all like Ben Haggards tele.
Sorry if this is off topic, but what era did they turn green? What were these things made out of?
I think the green celluloid pickguards were only used on the custom telecaster until 64 or so. Standard tele's never had green guards (or maybe the custom colored ones, I am not sure)
Black pickguard reappeared post 76. My 78 visible in avatar had bwb.
