have you ever seen the rain
coming down on a sunny day?
Sorry to meander, but I loved that song "Cats In The Cradle". I remember the part where it goes, "My son turned ten just the other day, he said thanks for the ball, Dad, c'mon let's play, can you teach me to throw, I said not today, I got a lot to do, he said that's okay..." For some reason, from the very first time I heard that lyric as a younger guy, it kind of broke my heart. I remember years later reciting that song, as a poem, for my kids one night at bedtime, and I think it made an impression on them. Of all the screw-ups I've made in my life, the one thing that I'll always look back on and smile about is that I taught my kids how to throw, and catch, and spent a lot of time in the backyard throwing them what we called "major league high flies" with a tennis ball. Funny how the simple things stand out. Thanks for letting me ramble!
What do you get when you kiss a girl?
I hear ya.
It hits me that way too.
Same same but different:
Deeper water - Paul Kelly
100 years - 5 for Fighting
Right in the feels, every time.
If he did get a job, would it include any dental?
Magnets! How do they work?!?
How does it feel?
Wrong. Billy Joe threw a baby off the bridge.
What does Maurice have to do with the pompatus of love?
When I was younger, I assumed it was flowers because of the last line of the song. I looked it up one time, and I found a non-answer from Ms. Gentry, where she simply said "Suppose it was a wedding ring?". And there's that whole business of the young preacher dude (apparently) stalking her. What if he confronted Billie Joe and threatened to tell everybody what he saw if BJ didn't break up with her (regardless if he saw what it was or not)? He couldn't handle either situation and made that final decision...
I looked up the Wikipedia page, and it seems there was a much longer version that the studio cut down. The University of Mississippi has a page of the original lyrics:
Which makes for more questions; is the girl "Sally Jane" mentioned in the first verse actually the narrator, and the rest of the song a flashback? Or is she another girl, making for a fateful "love triangle" (which makes Ms. Gentry's vague answer plausible)?
stop sending assassins after her mother.
I don't want to know
I thought it was Mick Jagger. Did Beatty wear scarves?
Now I won’t sleep.
Did anyone figure out where Dyna Mo Humm was coming from? Please message me or we’ll both get kicked off the site.
OK, here's some more musical mysteries:
If the cat named Kalamazoo could talk, what secrets would come out about Della, the Dealer, and the Dog named Jake?
What was Billy in trouble for?
... And what the heck is he building in there?
What the heck IS her name?
Maybe, but eventually he did, in fact, throw himself off the bridge.
No way, get ****ed, **** off...
Lux and Ivy were wondering.....
What's Inside a Girl?
Can Your Pus.sy do the Dog?
What's Behind the Mask?
How Far Can Too Far Go?
Jagger and Beatty were vain. I don't care. What did Billy Joe throw off that bridge?
