I'm helping a friend with his performance and he asked me to play this song. Which strumming pattern would you use if you were playing it?

I'd follow the rhythmic pattern the bass is playing. CS

Sure, whatever works best for you. I would definitely play a down stroke on 2 and 4, though. CS

Why not just play the rhythm part that comes in clearly at 2:54? It should fit the entire song nicely.

If you want to try out different patterns, you could turn up the youtube video, close your eyes, and just strum away. Try the pattern you suggested, try a reggae sort of pattern, let your right hand fly and see what happens. Hopefully you'll stumble onto something that works, then you can practice that for your performance. You could mix it up in different parts of the song too.
    Good Luck!

I was too distracted by the blonde sitting in the library. There was music to the video?
