Like I said in the introduction, I'm new here and to guitars in general. I am thinking about jumping on the Squire band wagon. Which Squire would be a good one and about what should I expect to pay if I bought a new one. I guess what I'm asking is what is the pecking order qualitywise of the Squires from high quality to lower quality and where are the better ones made. I just need a starting point for acquisition. Thanks in advance

I think the Classic Vibes are a pretty safe bet.

The Contemporary Tele (with the 2 humbuckers) and the Paranormal Cabronita Tele (thinline, with Jazzmaster pickups) were also excellent ime/imo. Both felt and sounded great- if you’re looking for something a bit different

I love my bullet Tele- but I think you’re increasing the chance you’ll do a little work on it at that price point.

You gotta get the name right, it's 'Squier '- and there is a lot of love for these guitars.

Would your prefer a Stratocaster, a Telecaster or other model?
There are 3 basic price point lines, and it sure sounds like each model are great values within their prices...the Bullet, then Affinity, then Classic Vibe ( there may be some more expensive Special models, like the 40th Anniversary ones)
Maybe just go to Sweetwater.com, do a Search on 'Squier Telecaster ' and 'Squier Stratocaster' to see what's out there...

I am very happy with my Classic Vibe '60's Telecaster Thinline reissue- a specific Fender model ( originally 1969) I've always wanted, but could not afford the various Fender reissues that have existed, so Squier.
No $$ now, but I'd love to get a Squier CV '50's Stratocaster, to go with my Fender '60's RI one...
Here is my Tele Thinline, love it! Fun at gig last night- tired!

Welcome aboard!

Your first decision would be new or used. The current hierarchy is Classic Vibe - Affinity - Bullet in terms of finish and time spent with fit and finish. But if you are interested in used, many people prefer the older Bullets over the Affinity. Another decision is body thickness. The CV as far as I know is full-Fender-thickness. Many examples of the others are 1/4" thinner which lightens the instrument considerably.

Best practice with any guitar search is playing as many examples as you can and find which you prefer.

Classic Vibes are great guitars. However, I bonded with the Affinity, I like the belly cutout. After a set up and new Tonerider Hot Classics pickups installed, this Tele rocks. Has become my favorite to play.
