+1 on the single layer black. To me, everything else seems to detract from the doghair.
White or pearl
Black pearl or tortoise (red pearl)
FLAT BLACK!!!!!! (OK, so I voted twice, big deal - you know what they say, 'vote early, vote often'.).
I'd go with either this or single ply parchment/cream
The white one , of course!
(Yeah, where's the mint one...?)
UPDATE 10/04/2018 TOTAL SCREW UP ALERT!! I will post a new thread when I get this thang finished the way I want. The screw up involves spilled lacquer and heat from a drying lamp on the front of the guitar. Feeling pretty incompetent and stupid right now. Life is a learning curve but I am having fun, Back in a couple weeks if it goes right.
My vote goes to Flat Black Single Ply
Oh no, sorry to hear that.
For what it's worth, I also like the idea of single ply not quite white. Personally, I'm not that keen on the black single ply one (for me, it's close but not quite), but I also find the multi ply ones a bit distracting. Would also be good to see it with no pick guard.
3 Ply White/Black/White, the Black Pearloid - second choice.
Damn that bites - she was looking good. You'll get it back.
I've been in dark places like this. These are the kinds of mistakes you make once - good luck in bouncing back
Hate to read of the mishap, but you'll get it put right.
Then you can put the white pickguard on it. Or flat black as a distant second; all the others distract from the finish.
Flat black. Give it a light sanding in the direction of the wood grain to give it a similar “brushed” look.
Any of them...as long as it's NOT the flat black, 3 ply black, pearloid or tortoise.
White, it looks really classy.
Thanks guys. It was a bummer since the grain was already filled. So I laid a black lacquer color coat down and made my own doghair grain pattern like I did around the edges of the guitar. I think it is going to look good when I am done.
