Trying to find out which fender telecaster's have the thinnest necks as i have fairly small hands and want a guitar that sounds great but is also simple and comfortable to play.

Squier CVs have necks on the thin side and are great guitars. Good fretwork, finish and pickups.

If you haven't already, do yourself a favor and check out the CVC in particular. A bit slimmer than the other CVs, the rosewood fretboard, frets and edges on mine are flawless.

I can't see anything on that site relating to neck thicknesses...

Advice? Go and play some guitars at your nearest shop.

Squier tend to have slimmer necks than Fender, my Affinity Strat's neck is...thin.

Check out some shorter scale guitars too - Jaguar/Jagmaster/Mustang etc. are all 24" rather than 25.5"

Also keep in mind that small hands don't necessarily find thin necks easy to play. Maybe, and maybe not. I have small hands, but my favorite necks are thick Us or Vs. I find that they put my fingers into a comfortable position over the fingerboard better than a thin neck does. Scale length, nut spacing and radius make a huge difference too IMO. I find 7-1/4 radii much easier to play in general. And while I have become accustomed to using normal scale instruments, I will never complain about playing a short neck!

You might want to consider a Duo Sonic as well. Hardtail Fenders with a 24 inch scale (though in the past there were also 22.5 inch scale versions). Squier makes a darned good one for the money, and you can put in pickups that'll make it sound more like a Tele later if you are unhappy with the sound.

IMO, the best thing to do is go into shops and play practically every Tele you can get your hands on. Describing how a neck feels in words is tough.

Neck Shape has everything to do with thickness, and that link list all neck shapes for Fender Telecasters
here is a chart, in case some dont know what neck shape =

Agreed. If a smaller shallower neck is what's most comfortable a CVC would get you there and get you a very nice looking, sounding and playing guitar too.

But as has been suggested playing a number of different models will give you the best idea of what's most comfortable for you.

Many players like the Squier Affinity teles, especially the butterscotch one. That's the thinnest neck I've come across on a tele.

Yea my 2012 Amer Std is kind of thin, but wide nut width. You'll never know till you try. You might be surprised at what you like. Don't discount the importance of the shape AND nut width

My Highway 1 Tele has a 'modern C shape' neck. So does my friend's MIA Standard Strat. Guess what? The Strat neck is narrower at the nut and thinner front to back. You can feel the difference. If Fender don't know what constitutes a definitive modern C shape neck, what chance have the rest of us got merely looking at charts?

Most things I have to use, physically use, I try before I buy. I wouldn't buy a car or a bike based solely on a catalogue description. Why are guitars different? Which is why I always write the same thing on threads like this - "go to a shop, and try some"

If you are looking for a thin neck, you can play every 52ri ever made with a U shape and the will not feel as thin as an Amercian delux with a C shape. IMO
So you 1st have to know what you are looking at or you will waste alot of time trying to find something that you are not going to find. You will play alot of nice guitars but waste alot of time. It might turn out that you like a U shape neck after playing 500 of them but it will not make the neck any thinner.

I went through several Teles before finding the neck shape that I like, finally settled on ONE particular American Standard, after owning not one, but two different '52 Reissues. I tried several MIM Teles, and Strats, and other American guitars. So far, the American Standard of both the Strat and Tele suit me best. I find that two models of the same guitar feel entirely different. The '52 reissue Teles I had were entirely different, one was more U shaped, the other was decidedly v shaped. Dunno why they are different. One poster suggested the CVC, my nephew, and brother-in-law both have one, and they are pretty thin. A couple of people in our family have Affinity Teles and they too are pretty small necks, but feel pretty good. Not for me, but you might like 'em. I wouldn't buy a guitar without trying it, been down that road too many times. If I can't play it first, I don't want it.

Forgot to mention, lots of people seem to buy an Affinity Tele, keep it a little while and trade 'em back in for something better. Personally, I find the Affinity Tele to be the best guitars for buck I've ever seen though I don't own one at present. You can grab 'em at Guitar Center on the used rack for a hundred bucks! I missed one last week, it was a little too beat up, but I plan on getting one, I still have a fiddle case to fill up, and that would be perfect, then when I go to a jam with the guys that have one, I'd bring mine!

This is the answer you are looking for! The CVC has the thinnest and flattest neck I've played in many years, mine is perfectly finished too, very level with perfect edges. Aside from being a thin neck, its also a great guitar and mine had extremely low action straight from the box. If a thin neck is paramount I really don't think you can go wrong with this one.

Hey

I also have small hands, and just - today actually - got my first tele. Was also looking for slim necks!

As others allready mentioned - go for the classic vibes. - I just got a cv50 BSB today. - the neck on that, compared to the CVC is little thicker though. But actually - belive it or not - gave a richer sound than the CVC. - dont know for sure of course if its the neck - but pickups are identical, so was quite suprised that you could tell the diffrence.

So because of the better sound - I took the CV50 BSB over CVC, and cv50 neck is still thin compared to other teles. But if thin neck is everything for you - then the CVC might be the thinnest you will get!

good luck :)

62 American Vintage Reissues are pretty thin I believe. My 2011 Am standard is a C, kind of thin but kind of wide, I find it comfy, the satin finish is nice as well.
