Which Kahler tremolo does this project need?

<sigh>, I saw an eBay project Hohner EvH-style body that was said to use a Kahler tremolo and I have a spare Kahler trem that I thought would work with it. It doesn't.

Any idea which model Kahler this guitar body takes?

that looks like it might technically "work".
You could either fill in the gaps in the route, or cut a decorative ring, or pickguard that covers the gaps.

The copy is probably what you need for an exact fit. Once a guy brought me a guitar and a Kahler he wanted installed. The template that came with it wasn't the right one, so I had to improvise.

First off, that does NOT look like a Kahler route. What you need for this is a 7300 trem with an adapter plate that Kahler also sells. Get in touch with John at Wammiworld.com, a most helpful chap that surely will sort this out for you. Oh, and I have no affiliation.

The body was cheap, like $15, so I don't have much investment in it.
I'd just hoped to find a use for my spare Kahler.
Might just put this body up on craigslist.

Wammiworld will hook you up. All you need is a plate for under your trem, which is only a couple bucks. I put a Kahler on a guitar with the same swimming pool route with no problems.

I stand corrected. In any case, Wammiworld (still no aff) will sort the plate thing out for you I'm sure.

You need the PL-4 plate. I had several guitars with a route identical to the one pictured, with a fake Kahler parked in it. You're better off without the faker. Those break, and were reeealy heavy. And wouldn't stay in tune.
Of course now I see you say it's a certain rare Kahler model, just tell the guys at wammiworld and they will know exactly what you need.

Your route is for the hohner trem unit ..

.. it's called an accutone vibrato, they do turn up online. It seems you have an ST stripes (laminated) body.

Nope, since that one requires back routing as you have with a strat style trem and as you can tell clearly from the photos this body doesn't have a back rout.

Hohner (and the Cort branded guitars that came from that era) had their own Kahler style whammy bridge.

I stand corrected! Never seen one of those, the rout looks the same as a 2600, but your right, there is now place for the springs! Learn somethin new every day!

I've had a few guitars with these Accutune tremolos. Trust me when I say you aren't missing anything if your body didn't come with one... the Kahler you have is way better than the Accutune, it's lighter and will stay in tune better. These trems are ridiculously heavy, the frame around the outside of the trem cracks or the springs break. And, if you can find springs that fit, they never have the right spring rate, or whatever.




Here's a pic of my current Kahler, attatched to the plate that goes under it. (and the bridge ground wire)

On my guitar I had to add the silver screws at the front of the plate because of the giant pickup route. Normally the 4 screws on the bridge hold it and the plate down, but because of the huge route for the original trem and the pickup route I had, there was nothing under the front 2 screws. THe plate is brass so it wasn't hard at all to drill thru it for the new screws. Looking at the body you posted though, you probably won't need to worry about that though. More wood on yours than I had. (If that makes sense)

THey look fine when they're all installed though.
