Got a 3 knob analogman Ross compressor. Great quality pedal. Really don't see how one could be "better" than it. Only different I guess

    Big Crush

I have the Big Crush and did not like it. I did not hate it, I just thought it was a little noisy with the sustain up past noon. It also has a massive tone/volume loss when disengaged, which I guess is not a problem for everyone since some leave it on.

I modded mine and fixed the volume loss. It was a fun learning experience. It was my first pedal mod.

When the Doubleback went on sale for $50 bucks I could not resist and now use that and leave it on all the time.

The other day I went back and played with the Rocktron with my Fuzz Face and they did not get along so well.

Luckily I never had the radio station problem either.

I think the volume drop was a pretty common thing though. Maybe you have a newer one or something? That would be interesting to know.

Funny how I'm not experiencing any of those problems...I really like this big green box.

Chalk one up for quality control...maybe that's the source of the problems.

Just got my new compressor a couple of hours ago, a Moen Ulite.

This is the second Moen compressor I have, the bigger UniComp having a place on my big pedalboard.

Both Moen compressors were pretty cheap, but they are well made, deathly quiet, and they sound wonderful.

Plenty of squish, plenty of sustain, plenty of boost, and the tone control is superb.

Are they sonically the same...just different casing?

I almost went with the smaller one, but hate buying before trying.

I was curious whether they'd be the same too. They are.

I think you'd like the Ulite.

I'm another Diamond Compressor user, but it's not for someone who wants a lot of squash. It's more of a tone enhancer/booster the way I use it - a great EQ with a little bit of squash, basically. If you're chicken pickin' or something, it's probably not the right pedal. If you want sparkle and even volume between strings, it's fantastic.

The compressor I have found to be the best I've ever used is the WAMPLER EGO COMPRESSOR. I have a MXR Dynacomp, Boss CS-3 & the Wampler is hands down the best.m it does not color my tone at all. Did a A/B test to see because come on, it's a compressor. How much different are they. Try a Wampler & you'll see. thanks Brian for all your great products.
