I’m wondering what compounds people are using to finish a guitar?

I’m 2 or 3 coats away from starting this and would like some recommendations please

With nitrocellulose lacquer I shoot a final wet coat reduced 1:1. That should flow out so minimum sanding is required. Depending on the success of that coat I will start wet sanding at 1000 or 1200 and go to 2000. At that point I buff with Mequiers #2 and #3 using a foam pad in a drill motor or a pedestal buffer. Sometimes I will skip the #2.

ps - I wait at least one week, usually longer. Been told I don't need to, figure it doesn't hurt,

What sort of setup will you be buffing with?

Foam pads or cloth buffing wheels?

I use 3M finesse it II Machine Polish (by hand). Amazing stuff.
