saw this in small ads, doesn't look right somehow, what do you think?
well, it's a real guitar...
If you are asking which parts are really a Fender Custom Shop Telecaster, I'd guess roughly zero.
It does appear to be a fake on a quick look. The pickguard doesn't follow the curvature well, the serial number placement looks odd, logo isn't right, etc.
The best ways to find out is by the certificate, the serial number on the neck plate, and serial number on the headstock. A phone call to Fender with that information would confim it. Anyone that pays that much money on a real Custom Shop will have kept the certificate as it verifies the status if they ever decided to sell it. Any seller that says he lost it would be a huge red flag to me.
Er, the tuners look ok.
As for the rest of it? As someone once said: that's not right - it's not even wrong.
It's a real guitar. As for custom shop?, I doubt it.
The truss rod plug looks like a MIM or Squier.
The body wood selection for a custom shop?, that top bout stands out.
The 'guard looks iffy.
The stamping/labelling of the pocket and heel looks wrong.
Was it intonated by committee?
the grass looks real.....
Rats !! I thought for 150 quid, I had a bargain!!
wouldn't take an offer for the grass
Look on the bright side, at least you didn't pay 2k for something you thought was a custom shop product.
Well, you do. You'd have to pay at least 50 more to get it shipped from China.
I am on holiday, and got an attack of GAS you guys saved me from myself !!
