I like my laquered tweed Blues Jr. much better than the older B.J.s. The older ones sounded muddy to me.
I also love my Vox AC10c1. These are both great amps. All IMHO
Adding to this list is the Vox AC4TV8. It’s a perfect match for my lapsteels.
The amp I disliked the most was my 1975 S.F. Princeton Reverb. Noisy, zero HR and sounded like a tub.

I’ll bite. Maybe it’s because I’m a Fender guy at heart, but I am apparently one of very few who had a Pathfinder 15R and didn’t like it. I could never get a clean or overdriven sound with any clarity, and that tiny speaker in that relatively big box was ridiculous.

I gave it to a band mate whose daughter was starting a band. Had I known about this list at the time, I’m sure I could’ve sold it at some outrageous price.

PS. I had one of the early US made Blues Jr.s and didn’t like that either. No Fender sparkle and tight bass at all. I’ve heard too that newer ones are better.

Hot rod deluxe, I agree, didn’t like. My ex played one in a band we’re in for a few years, not great. When she picked up a Deluxe reissue it was miles better.

But last time I saw Wye Oak Jen Wasner was playing a HRD, and sounded great.

    so hit or miss.

I had an Egnater that was a bit meh. And a crate vintage club that was merely ok. And an Epiphone tube amp that was a one-trick pony, it had a particular cool sound, but that was all it did. Nothing else. You could build off that one sound, or forget it.

These days I have a few amps that I pretty much love their various things they do.

I don't get any amp that is "good" sounding only when it rips your head off, like a Plexi.;)

I find it interesting that more Peaveys aren't mentioned here. Guess they have just faded away. I suspect the Classic 30 issue was the speaker. I have the Classic 50 212 and changed to a Weber Silver Bell and Blue Dog combo. Sounds perfectly clean and gorgeous.

The Peavey Classic 50 is a sleeper amp. It has great clean sounds. Peavey gets no love and I am a little shocked that there are very few posts here bashing them. Maybe no one plays Peaveys any more....

I have never cared for the Boogie sound. The oversaturated midrange sounds like nails on a chalkboard.

I also detest the sound of low watt
Squawk box amps like Fender Champs and Chicago Blues Box. Makes my skin crawl!

The marshall DSL..TSL..stuff. Fizzy thin sounding distortion with lousy cleans. I had a 50 watt 1/2 stack. I won it for being a top salesman at a music store i worked at. Never sounded like true marshall.
