Where To Purchase Capacitors?

    This is the picture. The innards are made just like new radial-lead caps, but they are put in an over-sized axial-lead can. There is little chance of the electrolyte making contact with the case.

    Are these objectionable? If so, why?

    This is not what you originally stated. There is a big difference between two cap types using the same electrolytic material and a radial cap stuck inside an axial cap. And for the umpteenth time the discussion is about where to buy caps.

    If they need to be period-correct sized bodies, then you'll need to pay more and order them from a "specialty" supplier like Tube Amp Depot or Angelica.

    If you don't care, you can save money and get a functional replacement from Allied/Arrow/Mouser/Newark.

    Buy as much as you can from Allied, Mouser, or the rest. Newark is not very hobbyist friendly but if you can add your orders on to someone else's prices are great.

    In St. Louis there is a super surplus place that also handles a lot of good new stuff, Gateway. But I only get to St. Louis once every two years.
