Does anyone know where to order a humbucker pickguard that is cut big enough to use a pickup ring inside it? I see these on the Fender Standard HH Teles, and I think the Squier Affinity HH has it too. See picture.

Why use a pickup ring on a pickguard?

Symmetry with the bridge. I don't know, ask Fender.

Is the neck pickup ring on the pickguard or on the wood underneath?

You can get a flat thin ring that's about .10" thick that lays right on top of the existing pickguard.

It probably screws into the pick guard. Using a regular hum routed PG.

It goes inside the pickguard, not on top of it. I've had one before.

You sure? In my life I've never seen a factory Fender done that way.

I'm starting to regret asking this question. Geez. Yes, Fender did this. They still do it with HH Teles.

Here's a closeup. You can see the ring is inside the pickguard, not on top of it.

Squier Affinity is like that, Fender was not. The guitar in your first pic is a Fender. Trying to help.

Warmoth gives the option of typical Tele bridge or humbucker on their PG's. I use the HB model on my P90 Esquire build since the pup is in a HB case. That Warmoth PG would likely work swimmingly on the guitar pictured in the OP.
I have no association with Warmoth outside of being a customer.

And the ring is inside the pickguard on that one as well. I know, I owned that guitar. It's a MIM Fender Standard HH.

As have I, and the pickguard I linked is for the same model, and it is on top, not inside.

Not a fan of the humbucker ring. Not necessary for form or function. 3063E109-B96F-4360-B3DA-7131DC7936FF.jpeg
