Hi guys.

I'm turning an old Squire II into a '57 replica (sort of) and I'm trying to get info on where I can find the closet color to "Aztec gold" Spray can or gun, doesn't matter. I tried a can of Valspar metallic gold, and, well it came out about like i was afraid.... "spray bomb gold" :D After some rubbing and scuffing, it's close, but way too, um, "cheap looking" i guess is what I'm trying to say here. Here it is thrown together for some pics.

I would love to get my hands on the actual aztec gold paint, but I'm not ready to dump tons of money onto this Korean plywood body. This is really a practice session for an unfinished body I have had for a while. Any ideas where to look?

Thanks

I can't think of any reason that forum rules prohibit the discussion of a certain color but I might suggest ReRanch for period-correct colors. Don't know if they have Aztec though.

Not sure either, but please, fill me in! Also, Reranch only has shoreline gold and Gibson Goldtop gold.

If you have a guitar with it, take it to an automotive paint store that has a scanner. They can scan it and mix it.

A color called Aztec Gold was a choice on a 1971 Pontiac GTO. Take a look at the GM color chips and see if the stock color would work. If so the paint store should have the formula to mix a pint or quart.
