So, I'm a college student on a budget and I'm looking for a cheap (but good) tele style neck for my next project. I was wondering if any of you guys could help to point me in the right direction? Any help would be greatly appreciated, thanks!

I got one of the $35 (+10 shipping) necks from guitarfetish.com, but I don't think I'd buy another. It's OK to get something playable in a hurry. Check Craigslist, one popped up in my area just today (Squier Strat) for $60.

mighty mite are probably the cheapest licensed by fender necks you'll ever find. usually can be found on ebay in the $100 range including shipping. also check out musikraft. I just recently won a Musikraft 24 fret birds eye maple neck, tilt back headstock, floyd rose shelf rout for $42+ shipping, however they are usually 6 times that price for those options. I also have an unfinished Eden paddle head neck that I got for $40 shipped. I haven't put it on a guitar yet, but I like the feel of it, and the wood looks nice, fretting is better than a LOT of entry level "by fender" type guitars I've played.

I have a Mighty Mite neck that I got from eBay. It was about $100. It's pretty nice, but needs a better nut.

In a similar quality range and often lower price range as Mighty Mite, you might consider a used Squier Tele neck. Lots of folks pull them from relatively new Squier Teles and put them up for sale in places like the garage sale here and on ebay, so you can find them in practically new condition at reasonable prices. I see them often for around $65, occasionally less.

I built a Charvel San Dimas clone with a compound radius Mighty Mite neck I got on eBay from JC's Guitars. I have to tell you that it has been rock-solid and was playable without any fret dressing or fussing. It was just under $100. I'd get another one.

My other favorite CHEAPER (not cheap) necks are AllParts.

I usually comb through Warmouths "showcase" patiently 'till something shows up. I have purchased 4 strat necks from them(had to return one due to twist) but I will look into the other sources mentioned above as I am now shopping for a maple neck for my first Tele build. I am wondering what are the "classic" tele neck features and dimensions? I kind of like a fat neck w/ big frets and a wide nut. Also I am wondering if any of you guys shy away from one piece necks because a glued on fretboard could improve the life of a neck and make it more stable. I have never had a Tele and am really looking forward to this build!
